UDIA NSW President's Message

Michael Sheargold

The 2020 UDIA NSW Crown Group Awards for Excellence are now open for entry. In their 26th year, the awards recognise and reward excellence and innovation in the urban development industry.  We should be proud as an industry of the work we do in creating cities and communities and these awards give us the opportunity to showcase and celebrate the outstanding work of our peers.

Nominees undergo a rigorous process of assessment and evaluation, and the winners are selected for their standout commitment to excellence. Winners and finalists are able to leverage off the awards’ prestige to promote their projects to the community, key stakeholders and the media. Some winners also have the opportunity to represent NSW in the UDIA National Awards for Excellence.

These awards are an important platform for us to demonstrate to the broader community the commitment of UDIA members to creating liveable, affordable and connected cities, whilst also providing the opportunity for participants to exchange ideas across a wide range of areas, from the latest in technology, sustainability, environmental preservation and cutting-edge marketing.

I encourage you to submit your latest and greatest projects and for those that do, I wish you all the very best.

The UDIA NSW Crown Group Awards for Excellence is a high-profile annual event that recognises and rewards excellence and innovation in the urban development industry. There are marketing benefits for all entrants, and winners are widely acknowledged by the media, the community and by peers.

Our Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner is a yearly sell-out event attracting an array of property professionals within the industry. Participating in the awards offers a valuable opportunity to engage with industry colleagues and build new business contacts.

Many UDIA NSW members can attest to the benefits of being recognised in the UDIA NSW Crown Group Awards for Excellence program. The awards help drive property sales and enhance the reputation of the winners with the public, local and state authorities, and other key stakeholders.

Preparing an entry becomes a team-building exercise and demonstrates the efforts of staff and consultants. The public announcement and celebrations at the awards gala dinner provides an incentive for entrants to continue to strive for excellence.

There is an opportunity for select award winners to represent NSW at the UDIA National Awards for Excellence. Eligible winners will be contacted by the UDIA NSW office in late 2020. National Award winners will be announced at the National Gala Dinner in early 2021.

Award winners are entitled to the use of the official UDIA NSW Crown Group Awards for Excellence seal in their marketing and communications. The seal represents the quality of the development and the credibility of the developer.
